How to Get Client Referrals

referralsThe best way to market your salon is through your existing customers, as a good client referral can bring you far more business than any other form of advertising.

It is a proven fact that if your customers love you they are going to tell their friends about you, and when it comes to their hair, if it looks fabulous then their friends are going to ask where they had it done, so you need to make sure you capitalise on this.

To do so, we recommend putting a structured scheme in place to reward your customers for referrals that they bring to your salon. The first thing to plan is how to track them.

A simple idea is to give people business cards to hand out to friends and have each card uniquely numbered in relation to the person handing them out. This way when referral customers hand them in, you can track the card back to the customer who referred them.

We provide our clients with professionally designed client referral cards. The salon owners place the cards around the salon and hand out when clients are paying.  PDF versions of the card are also available to clients who receive salon newsletters.

You will get the best  results if you incentivise your clients to refer your salon to their friends.  Incentives can range from a percentage or dollar discount to a free service, a bottle of product or something totally unrelated.
